Right-clicking the patient photo top left does this as well
for some values of "patient photo".

The [Edit] button is pressed to edit what you see in the
listing (in this case, the template definition).

The photo is visible at the bottom of the right hand side
pane which I double checked two days ago.
Yesterday I fixed a nasty little hidden bug where photos
would display as zero-size (and thus be invisible) if they
were narrower than their height.
