Or you can just do what I've done in the 1.3 branch and remove a bunch
of old logs after creating ChangeLog files from them.   Lacks the
compression but includes savings based on file system allocation
granularity (doesn't make _much_ difference for me but presumably is
better for ext* file systems.   Also cuts down on the size of base-0
log messages from `tag'.)
