Can you explain what you mean? The code in A_SendSMSMessage clears data, 
prepares data, then calls gn_sms_send and then release data:
  gn_data_clear (dt);
  dt->sms = d->sms;  
  d->status = gn_sms_send (dt, sm);
  status = d->status;
  free (dt->sms->reference);
  free (dt);

After GN_ERR_TIMEOUT error, smsd tries to restart connection to phone.
This mean it calls
gn_lib_phone_close
gn_lib_phoneprofile_free
gn_lib_library_free

and then:
gn_lib_phoneprofile_load
gn_lib_phone_open
