I don't think there is an ideal hardware for running getfem++. It compiles on
32 bits systems as well as on 64 bits systems without problems.
It has been recently tested on several recent linux distribution with gcc-3.4
or later. It compiles also with intel c++ compiler and on MacOS X with g++.
Of course, if you want to solve big linear systems with MUMPS for instance you
will need a large amount of memory.
