It plays fine.. I do sometimes an error of "broken pipe" which recoers 
and playing continues. When swhiching songs for example.

OSS needs that small patch to compile on NetBSD and i am sure if 
tweaking ioctl() that way is correct. It doensì't play. I haven't tested 
libao backend yet.

FreeBSD8+gcc works, FreeBSD9+clang compiles, doesn't start.

OpenBSD plays with OSS but not with sndio and has a very high CPU usage.

I'll write a summary email later.
