Yes. You can change the `CFLAGS' variable as follows while calling `make':
CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -UFT_CONFIG_CONFIG_H -DFT_CONFIG_CONFIG_H=..."

I don't think so. The idea of `CPPFLAGS' is to override other
preprocessor flags.
