Hello,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Open Source project XWiki (www.xwiki.org), because we are interested in using FreeFont for our PDF Export feature.

Given that we wish to provide our users a highly internationalizable wiki, we have for a long time searched for a good font to use in the exported PDF documents, that would have a wide Unicode coverage and an appropriate license. For the moment, FreeFont looks like the best option.

The reason why we're not yet sure about it is the possible incompatibility between the licenses. XWiki is released under LGPL, and the font will actually be used from the apache-licensed FOP. Should the font be used in XWiki, it would be distributed with the software. However, technically, the font will only appear in the PDFs (and there's a special clause in your license that allows it).

Please let us know if you consider that the font can be used in XWiki under the given circumstances, or if you would be willing to grant XWiki a LGPL license.

Thank you,
