Thanks for the input.

There, unfortunately, aren't many good tutorials on LaTeX. Its even 
worse if you want to find one for Windows - I think this is largely 
because if you buy into LaTeX people seem to assume you are leaving 
Windows completely.

Perhaps I can help you get going - what seems to be the problem exactly? 
A LaTeX file is just a text file so it can be edited in any editor (even 
Word! :)

The idea is that you have special text embedded which tells some other 
program how to format it. I found this tutorial which may(?) help:
