One theory I have is that boolean variables are usually named as if
they were verbs, e.g. `do-something', which implicitly tags them as
being boolean (and which is why `-flag' seems redundant).
This is an interesting line of thought. It could be that the suffix
-flag is useful for some kinds of names and not for others, depending
on this grammatical criterion.
For instance, consider `file-precious-flag': there, `-flag' seems
to be useful, but `file-precious' does not have a verb.
Perhaps that is why `-flag' is useful there.
