participation of FSFE to World Education Forum

Hi my friends,

I aksed FSFE if they were agreed about official participation of FSFE in the World Education Forum, that will be held in Porto Alegre next 24-27 october. (see http://www.forummundialdeeducacao.com.br/)

They agreed on the condition that I take in charge all the work, which I accepted. And so this participation was launched. In a hurry, because deadline for sending articles is August 31, and personally I'm taking my holidays just now, far from my computer, until 26 August.

As I was looking for an address for that event, Georg reminded me address@hidden list, that we agreed to use as mail address for the event (is this list open for sending mails?). Double advantage: looks really fsfeurope, and messages arrive to a lot of highly selected and qualified people that we are in this list. Our discussions still have address@hidden

I'm sending right now on a few lists the first call for papers for this event. If somebody in this mailing list wants to write an article, it would be a great thing. Those articles will be in the official report of the Forum, so they will have a great diffusion worldwide. We can send up to 10 articles. Several aspects have to be illustrated according to me:

-presentation of use of libre software in the class room,
-what is libre software
-which conception of computer we want in the next century,
-information technology a a right not a luxury,
-presenting the GNU project of sharing the knowledge
-libre documents, what is and what for?

and so on, here there are 6 suggestions. They have to be written in english (or portugese!), be very divulgative (for computer-non specialists), and I think 4500 letters (3 pages) are enough. Post them to the list and on August 27 I will send them to the WEF.

If somebody wants to participate in the organisation of this forum, let me know, more than welcome. Those people can also answer directly to the mail arriving, putting address@hidden in Cc:

I put in Cc: only the english call for papers.
You will see that I put it a bit wide (making a cd-rom, etc.). It may require more work if we want to do all that, but it may be interesting.

I think it will be for that occasion useful to reorganise all information in a easy-to-read way, on one or two websites.

Sorry for not having discussed this on the list more widely, but it's a bit in a hurry and I think it's ok anyway.

Raphael
