As the original poster said, this is pretty much a non-issue. If D-Bus isn't
present,
Duplicity simply won't use it and those features won't be present- in other
words it will work
the same way as it does presently.
D-Bus is widely adopted. It's available (and used) on basically all GNU/Linux
distros,
*BSD, and Solaris. It's available in OSX and there is a Windows D-Bus port in
the works.
