I tried GWNet a few months back and it didn't work. Namely, I would
be able to go as far as connecting to a server, dragging a file into
GWorkspace, clicking "OK" when it asked me whether I wanted to
download, and then...
Nothing.
I just checked it out of CVS again and gave it another shot:

Same problem. It doesn't appear to ever actually initiate a transfer.
It just does nothing. Also, there is some weirdness along the left
side of the window but that's probably just a fluke.
