[Classpathx-javamail] jdk 1.4 - mbox provider

it is with some pleasure that i note the appearance of api functionality for
file locking in jdk1.4. obviously this would have quite an effect on the
stability of the mbox provider.

i'd like a bit of feedback on what might be expected of me here. should i
reimplement the mbox provider to use file locks, and, if so, should i
provide backward compatibility for earlier jdks?
