Parted Bug: There are no possible configurations for this fat type |

Hello,
Today I tried to reduce the size of a FAT 16 data partition for Windows to
make room to add another Windows partition. The partition is located at the
send of a 40 GB drive (see below for further information on the partition
layout after I reduced the size of the FAT 16 partition... before that it
ended at the end of the harddisk).
I typed
resize 9 34389 36000
and it reported me that I got a bug I shall report to address@hidden:
"There are no possible configurations for this fat type" (FAT16 the partition
used)
I say "Ignore"... now comes:
"Warning: Filesystem doesn't have expected size for Windows to like it.
Clustesize is 64K (536890031K expected), number of clusters is 60490
(1073938162 expected); size of FATs is 237 sectors (1 expected).
I say "Ignore" again... parted offers me to convert the partition to FAT32
which I accept. And then it moves data and mount the partition again under
Linux and it seems to be okay.
I did not yet test with Windows - and currently I do not really care - but
before my change this partition definately worked OK under Windows... so I am
not quite sure what the "doesn't have expected size message is all about".
Here is parted 1.6.2 output after another resize to 35500 since I could use
really some room for Linux here ;-).

partition 8 is a Amithlon virtual harddisk partition (partition type $76) it
contains a Amiga Rigid Disk Block (RDB) and partitions that Amithlon makes
accessible to the Amiga system. My Debian Linux is on the partition 6
(ext3fs).
Some further info on my machine that might be useful. When you need anything
else, please tell me. I am on holidays from 26 July to 19 August 2002 and
will not be at this place where I can access this computer after 18:00 today
(24-7-2002). I hope this bug report is helpful.:
