Follow-up Comment #1, patch #3934 (project grep):
For a script reproducing the problem, download attached grep-P-utf8-bug.sh.
If you have arabic fonts, you can see how the UTF8 string gets broken very
clearly, however it is not needed. Thanks to Charles for pointing out the
script(1) tool.

Note that the original submission is for some reason not in the archive. Also
note that although the user reported it as a --color error, the problem is
general and has nothing in particular to do with --color.
