In the patch issue, please can you say what bug(s) the patch fixes, preferably 
with a reproduction and/or test script.  Otherwise somebody like me, when 
wanting to commit the patch into CVS, will not be able to tell whether it 
actually works.

It would also be helpful to providing a link to the associated discussion 
thread in the mailing list archive.
