Work on da has been dead for while, but we would basically translate
everyting -- including technical terms.

Although Danish mostly consists of words borrowed from German, English,
and Frensh the consensus on the sslug-locale mailing list (SSLUG
<URL:http://www.sslug.dk/locale/>) is that you should translate everything.
They even have a translation-list
<URL:http://www.klid.dk/dansk/ordlister/ordliste.html> that can be used
for translation of common terms. Perhaps you can find something similiar
for German? 

However, sometimes this gives almost ridiculous translations, and for
that reason I usually prefer the original English version of programs. 

One of the terms I found most difficult to translate was "Double, take"...

I can't say anything about the Japanese translation, but try:

export LANG ja_JP; gnubg

It certainly looks like everything is translated in the sense that you
won't see Japanse and Engish mixed.
