(If this has already been done, the answers are easy.) 

Matt R. and I were discussing this at Novi. I know Neil requested this
previously and Zbot may be doing it, but we don't have Zbot yet. 

1) How hard would it be to alter the GNUBG code to have it play DMP? 

2) How long would the training take (assume a 1 GHz machine running
around the clock)? 

3) Could an amateur with moderate knowledge of C and a LINUX box have a
reasonable chance of pulling this off?
