The first error is:

./libxml/encoding.h:29:19: error: iconv.h: No such file or directory

Please take a look at the first entry of gettext's DEPENDENCIES file.
Either you don't have GNU libiconv installed, or you did not specify the
--with-libiconv-prefix option.
