New .po did not trigger making a new .gmo

Hi,

I am not sure if I messed up somewhere. On GIT head, after Stéphane told
us he had updated a new fr.po, I went ahead and:

./bootstrap && configure && make

Indeed a new fr.po was downloaded.

then I ran 'du --help' again, to see the text fixed. It was not. Same
error.
I then looked at the ./po/fr.po, and indeed it was corrected there. But
the 'fr.gmo' file was dated from some days ago (and not, as I sort of
expected, newer than the fr.po).

I then *deleted* ./po/fr.gmo, and ran make under ./po -- no regen of
fr.gmo. make ended with no action being reported. A full make did not
change anything.

Cutting to the end: the only way for me to gen the new fr.gmo was by
running 'make fr.gmo' under ./po.

There seems to be an error somewhere in there. I will try and look more
at it later on, as work permits.
