  Sorry Ralf but syaing alternatively yes and no things become
  absolutely not clear ! Indeed I think that your changes fixe
  the bug you mentionned concerning the case were the master
  document is shared. Anyway it seems to create a bug in my case
  when the document tree becomes deep. 

  I still wonder how the system might function when style file
  are stored in a master dependent way (in the auto
  subdirectory of the master directory) and when auctex tries
  to retrieve them in a master independent way. It is clear
  that it should be the case when master is shared  but then
  they sould be stored in a master independent way as well ... 

  Anyway I simply commented the ttwo lines which causes the bug
  and it works perfectly but I do not try to have shared
  masters ...
