I could try to make an example, but  I can't provide the specific 
document as it is a 700+ pages book with nearly 200 figures, and, above 
that, it is not my book, as I'm just the copy-editor/typesetter, so 
legally I'm not allowed...

But I just tried with TeXmaker, and clicking on the built-in PDF viewer 
also jumps to a paragraph corresponding to the next page on source, so 
it is not Evince the culprit.

In these days I'll install TeXLive 2012 on a Mac G5 and test with it; if 
it also happens there, I'll try to make a comprehensible bug report to 
SyncTeX.
