I believe this is a duplicate of something that was posted awhile ago.

Task summery: "When doing channel completion would it be possible to start
with the active channel buffer when using #<tab>, it seems like that would be
better than starting with the A's and tabbing alphabetically when no character
is given to begin the tab completion."
