Follow-up Comment #1, task #9537 (project weechat):

1) http://www.weechat.org/scripts/source/stable/autojoin_on_invite.py/ allows
for join-on-invite.

2) I believe you can now have invites shown in the active buffer with 
++++
/set irc.msgbuffer.invite current
