Hi Jose,
great! I have the following ideas:

- Name of the program: GNU Aris.
- Short description of the program: GNU Aris is a logical proof program that supports propositional and predicate logic, as well as Boolean algebra and arithmetical logic, in the form of abstract sequences.
- URL of the program: https://www.gnu.org/software/aris/
- Title for the idea: Add a web user interface to GNU Aris.
- Description of the idea: GNU Aris can be successfully used in explaining some basic concepts of propositional and predicate logic. Its user interface is based on GTK which prevents usage on certain platforms. By targeting the web platform, end users could have the opportunity to access a unified interface. This could be a great step in teaching and learning concepts in logic.
- Skills necessary to do the work: C programming, basic knowledge of WebAssembly, emscripten, HTML
- Address a prospective student should use in order to contact the
development community and maintainers of the program: bug-aris@gnu.org, zoltan@geogebra.org
- A list of URLs with reference information useful for the
  idea: https://www.gnu.org/software/aris/manual/https://emscripten.org/

- Name of the program: XaoS.
- Short description of the program: XaoS (pronounced chaos) is a realtime interactive fractal zoomer.
- URL of the program: https://github.com/xaos-projecthttps://github.com/xaos-project/XaoS
- Title for the idea: Add a web user interface to XaoS.
- Description of the idea: XaoS has a Qt interface, but to use it, end users require to download and install the software. This is not always possible, which is most problematic in schools and classrooms. The Qt system allows compiling the code into a HTML/_javascript_/WebAssembly application, however, the current version of XaoS is malfunctioning on the web platform because of a non-conform way of the implementation of realtime animation. In this project a fully working web application is to be implemented.
- Skills necessary to do the work: C/C++ programming, good knowledge of Qt and WebAssembly, HTML, _javascript_
- Address a prospective student should use in order to contact the
development community and maintainers of the program: https://github.com/xaos-project, https://github.com/xaos-project/XaoS/wiki, https://github.com/xaos-project/XaoS/issues, zoltan@geogebra.org
- A list of URLs with reference information useful for the
  idea: https://github.com/xaos-project/xaos-project.github.iohttps://github.com/xaos-project/XaoSjshttps://www.qt.io/

Thanks!
Best, Zoltan

Jose E. Marchesi <jemarch@gnu.org> ezt írta (időpont: 2023. febr. 7., K, 18:30):

Hello everyone.

I have just submitted an application for the GNU Project to participate
as a mentoring organization in GSOC 2023.

We will know the outcome in late February.

In the meanwhile, it is VERY important to collect and publish a list of
ideas of the GNU programs interested in participating under the GNU
umbrella.

To do so, please send them to this list and I will be adding it to our
GSOC ideas page.

For each idea, please include the following information:

- Name of the program (example, GNU poke).
- Short description of the program.
- URL of the program (example, https://www.gnu.org/s/recutils)
- Title for the idea (example, Writing python bindings for libpoke).
- Description of the idea.
- Skills necessary to do the work.
- Address a prospective student should use in order to contact the
development community and maintainers of the program.  This would be
the typical foo-devel@gnu.org or bug-foo@gnu.org list.
- A list of URLs with reference information useful for the
  idea.

Please do not bother to format the ideas in HTML.  We will do it for
you.

Remember people: the more and more exciting and nice ideas we have in
the page, the bigger are the odds we will get accepted this year.  Also,
the sooner we have the info on place, the more odds we will have as
well.

So please send the information sonner than later!  Do not wait until
mid-February to do so.

Salud!
