Hi!
I am one of developers of yet another input method library uim
(http://freedesktop.org/Software/uim )
Uim was orignally intended to handle complexiety of Japanese methods,
and now trying to support other languages in the world.
I hope both scim and uim to be able to handle complexiety of
Chinese, Japanese and other languages in the world. So I
suggest to share infomation about our input methods.
Here's some comments and suggestions.
*Scim sometimes uses TCP sockets, how do you think about user's
authentication? Especially for some input methods which learn
user's input stores highly private information into storage,
so we must protect them from other users.
(One answer is to use Unix Domain sockets as default and deny
other user's access by file permissions.)
*I strongly agree with your design decision to make Scim as a
single user system. This is a big difference of Scim and Uim against IIIMF.
*I hope input composition tables to be relased more weak license.
(Say X License.) IMHO, Enabling easy support of our input methods
even for proprietary software is good thing.
Thanks,
