Savannah's servers are in the process of being migrated to new hosts and
improved configuration - which will also include better HTTPS certificates and
working redirection (from 'sv.gnu.org' to 'savannah.gnu.org' over HTTPS).
The current servers indeed do not support the shorthand version of
"sv.gnu.org", only the full host name "savannah.gnu.org" (and
"savannah.nongnu.org").
