That was the /dev/null file descriptor I saw open in /proc/NNN/fd/,

I'd expect bzr to rotate it, as it does with client logs. Martin, is
that expectation correct?

I agree, it doesn't make much sense for a server to save a log in a
dot-file. Perhaps submit a bug report about that.
