Hi,

The request for Savannah volunteers that we sent out last month gave us 12 enthusiastic replies. I've responded to each of them and I have told them that one of you may be emailing them soon.

The email list of all 12 who responded is:

address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden, address@hidden

To read there individual responses, I have included the emails they sent us below. I apologize for the format -- I was unable to figure out a way to create an mbox from the RT queue. I at least tried to make it easy to parse :-)

I would be available to support PHP or Perl applications for Savannah. I
currently work as a web developer for Classmates.com which was originally a
Perl shop (now Java) and have worked on a number of smaller or personal
projects using PHP. I've approximately four years working with Perl (though
not recently) and about three with PHP.

I don't have any specific background in spam-handling other than as a user (
i.e., SpamAssassin). I've administered a number of Wikis but haven't
inspected code in any depth.

Thanks,

Jason Walsh

This is something I'd love to participate in. I'm currently a Systems
Analyst for the University of Washington, where I pretty much breathe
SQL and PHP and do a bit of Perl on the side.

If you need anyone for PHP, I'd be glad to help. BTW, I recommend
Lighttpd over Apache, it's not just faster but easier in configuration
too. To further help reduce server load, compile the APC pecl package
(if it hasn't been done already).

And thanks for providing project hosting :)

Kind regards,
Paul.

I have both PHP and Perl experience and would be willing to help out. About
the only anti-spam stuff I've done has been use of the freecap captcha
library, but I can certainly learn. Are you still in need of volunteers?

Cheers,
Justin

I am quite adept with perl and I think I could learn php
pretty quickly. How many hours would you expect it to take?
Are the requirements available to read?

would gladly help you.

Let me know if i can be of use.

I would like to volunteer to help improve Savannah. I do have Perl and
(to a less extent) PHP knowledge. So just to let you know in case you
are interested.

Thanks for the great work you do.
Cheers,
jordi

I have just seen your email with requests for help on the Savannah website,
I am a php developer with over 6 years programming experience, I also have a
small amount of perl knowledge but am willing to learn more as required, if
your still in need of help please let me know as I can donate some of my
time to help out.

TIA

after four years of hosting the python starship, I now have some extra
time to give back to those free projects that provided free versions of
tar, sed, grep, zip, cc and friends.

I could well start making gradual improvements to PHP, python or Perl code.

The defense of per-project wikis against vandalism seems to be an
interesting but ever face changing target. The most active users
adopting to change seem to be the abusers. These will for sure be
long-term tasks.

So, in short I can help and I am experienced in building and migrating
web based systems whilst they are used in that part of my life "that
feeds my kids".

Oh by the way, I will usually work from Germany.

All the best,
Stefan Drees.

Hello M/s FSF,
I am interested in volunteering but, I have little working knowledge in Perl and no knowledge in PHP. Please let me know about it.
Thanks and regards,

I'm decent with PHP and would love to be of help to FSF and Savannah. However I do not have a lot of time to give on a regular basis. I could work on small
self contained tasks of up to a week in length. You could think of me as a
highly skilled and dedicated "Mechanical Turk" of sorts.

If I can be of any help please let me know.

I would be happy to donate some time for this!

I haven't worked with PHP much, so I'm not sure how much I can
contribute there. I am willing to take a look anyway (since I'm
currently job hunting, I get asked about PHP a lot...).

Perl I'm more comfortable with.

I've run email systems for over a million users so I have some
experience with email spam. I think I could contribute to this.

Please let me know what you think and what information you would like
to receive from me.

Thanks,
Sami Juvonen.
