I dunno. I have a similar problem, when I swap the Delete and Insert
keys (via xmodmap), everything works EXCEPT emacs, which suddenly
treats Delete as if it's a Backspace. It occured to me that emacs was
doing something esoteric, like reading keycodes instead of syms
sometimes.
Likewise, I thought maybe something unusual was being done to e.g.
grab the keyboard uniquely, since AFAIK the X client shouldn't even
see `<Compose> a "' , only the รค. I find it hard to believe that
clients would need to know how the compose key works.
I guess as you don't know what I'm talking about, it's an X problem.
