I can see how mouse control of ratpoison would work better if you use the GIMP regularly than it would if your interface of choice is fullscreen Emacs.
before i wrote this, i had no idea that the ratpoison community was mostly fullscreen-text-window users. i was pretty surprised myself when i saw how little the rest of you use the mouse. personally, i got into rp for the framsets. its a dream to have windows open with the exact size and in the exact place that i want them. plus, it can open and organize complex workspaces like GIMP (and all its toolwindows) with just a simple script. i mean, i drooled so hard that i forgot i even had a keyboard.
Personally, I have a hard time getting over the IRONY of the idea ofmouse control in ratpoison!
so did i, believe me... it took a week to get the balls to actually suggest it. sort of reminiscent of bob dylan at the newport folk festival, whipping out the electric guitar. come on guys, its about the music!
But what the heck, here is an idea I had that would work well with a scrollwheel mouse and just as well with the keyboard. ... With some functionality like this (and similarly for frames) and the ability to bind actions to mouse keys, you would probably be very happy, yes?
absouletely.the only real extensions to ratpoison that i'm suggesting are the ability to recognize (and bind to) mouse clicks, and the ability to figure out what frame is under the pointer. then, ratpoison's existing :command set can do the rest.
