     This turned out to be a problem with gdb, not pspp, so forget about it.
     
     But PSPP segfaults on OSX, though, which is why I had to use pspp. 
     

Without a working gdb, it's going to be difficult to debug.  Maybe you
could try putting some diagnostic commands to help.
