Give the 5 euro one from your local DIY shop a try - I found them to be quite
accurate on a lot of surfaces.

Or any camera solution with some form of parallax or similar distance/angle
thing (make the LEDs flash and use a PLL ot filter out all other crap) or a
meatball*.
