I'm not a coder but do claim to be a techie, and run gentoo, which 
defaults to a scripted build-from-source, so here, applying that patch 
would be as simple as dropping it in a particular directory and running 
the ebuild script that remerges pan.

But you're on MS and AFAIK don't compile your own binaries, so you just 
wait.  Since he said the patch works better for him, and he's the one 
doing MS platform binaries, it's very likely he'll have a new binary up 
soon if it's not there already.
