[Pan-devel] headers (Re: My list of present problems with Pan.)

I do understand the concerns about privacy
when giving details in any post
(not just/only header lines).

Normally, I (must) remind myself
to review the "More Headers" tab
and to turn on/off one or both boxes
at the bottom-left there
(as the situation requires)
before posting.

But this is a pan-devel group/list,
and I do know the information is needed
during these kinds of discussions.  ;)

BTW, I'm also fully aware that,
even tho I'm using Gmane's SSL path,
my rough location is always given
in the headers it inserts automatically.
I believe TOR etc. would be a (rare) way to
control (lie about) such info.  ;)
So, I suppose I will try using TOR etc.
if this turns me into a true paranoid.  ;D
But this kind of info should not happen on
"normal" NNTP servers such as GN and AW.

FWIW, relating to my earlier long posts
about uploading binary files,
I have modified the yencee script
to add-in many (specific) headers
usually of the form:
"X-whatever: string"
primarily intending to direct the
downloaders to further info on the
attached files.
Such as:
- saying to read the nfo file for
  instructions on how to process the
  split files,
- the password needed
  (if truly paranoid about the data),
- and other such useful items
  and silly things to boot.  ;)
(I'm hoping the main author of yencee
 will see my email about this enhancement
 to his project.  I have tested it on GN,
 and the tests do seem to propagate thru
 the worldwide Usenet okay.)
As for Pan, tho, we already have a
"Custom Headers:" area
directly on the "More Headers" tab,
and also a similar area
on the "Posting Profile" panel.
I believe the judgefudge repo
already will include those
extra header lines
during the binary postings
from the "File Queue"
(obeying the un/checked boxes on the
 "More Headers" tab).
Correct?
(I've still not test it yet.)
As things go, you'd really wonder why
almost every Usenet user does not think
to look at the headers for such extra info.
