This is old news here. There's patches for this in 0.133 already, along
with the *.nzb buffer overflow security issue, and for newer glib
compatibility, among other things.
I'd suggest rather than working on patching old versions, if you're
running source already as you must be if you are patching, download and
work on the newest version, currently 0.133, and see if it still needs
the patches before worrying about them.
Now a patch you /might/ be interested in, that is still needed on 0.133
as well as current SVN, is the one on this bug, adding per-group spell-
checking language choice:
