the httpd problem was my fault...after starting monit, it says "starting
httpd" and i just overlooked that this was for the monit-httpd server... :-)
i did some tests and was unable to reproduce the sendmail problem.
i have never had such a problem before, so i can't tell you if it is version
dependent or independent.
platform: x86
os: gentoo
