If your problem is specifically with the Cygwin port of GNU make then
you should check with them.  That version is actually somewhat modified
from the version shipped by the FSF, such that (unless the same error
happens with "standard" GNU make) we can't really help you with it.

This bug has been reported and there's a patch for in Savannah.  However
the fix is to just add the object file, nothing more.
