This -------------------------------------^^^^^^ is not what I said.
Right - you should _only_ use "-stdin" if you are telling lynx to read
a document from the standard input.
There were 2-3 people complaining earlier this year about problems piping
a document to lynx without using that option -- but that only makes lynx
attempt to read the data as more options. (I noticed some confusion on
that point in the bug discussion).
