I can't edit the lynx.cfg file on all the machines I use, and I
dislike editing lynx.cfg anyway because the file is so big.
but you can set your own lynx.cfg which includes the system lynx.cfg,
e.g.,
export LYNX_CFG=$HOME/mylynx.cfg
and in that file add your own settings.
