They exist primarily because they view tables and many web pages better,
which is exactly what you're looking for.
But *TO* view them better, they have to do two passes through the data,
which takes longer.
So what do you want, speed or very nicely rendered (in text) sites?
It's a tradeoff.. Usually I use lynx first for the sites I know work
well, but for some sites (e.g. gist.com) I use links.. (and I've actually
got iCab running on some other sites.. so at work I *do* use GUI browsers
too..)
