why? -- you can easily compile Lynx 2-8-2 to omit news & SSL, at least.

lynx-dev does not support older versions of Lynx:
the latest release & development versions continue older features,
while adding many improvements & extensions,
& the volunteers don't have time for anything beyond that.

moreover, i would argue lynx-dev should not encourage people
to distribute out-of-date versions,
which can only cause confusion & problems for innocent users.

i would argue strongly that lynx-dev should not get involved
in any activities involving money, which can only end up poisoning
the long-standing co-operative spirit of Lynx development.
acting as a notice-board for consulting services is such an activity.

besides his English, Mr Motiwala should also improve his knowledge
of international volunteer etiquette as it applies to the difference
between open-source software development & commercial enterprise.
