Follow-up Comment #1, bug #47417 (project lwip):

These should normally be implemented in the netif driver itself: we don't know
which packets actually get sent or rejected by the netif (e.g. delayed TX ->
return value of the output function cannot be used).

However, I just saw that this is not implemented yet in the ethernetif.c
stub...
