Follow-up Comment #1, task #13524 (project lwip):

Patch #8359 (Provide utility function to add an IPv6 address to an interface)
already added netif_add_ip6_address().

Now I'm not sure whether the 2nd part is also covered by that patch:

> This should handle subscribing to the solicited-node address
