Follow-up Comment #1:

LWIP_HAVE_LOOPIF is now not required any more for loopback traffic via
loopback addresses. It is still possible to enable it though (mainly for tests
or special setups where there is no other netif).

Single-netife mode (as an optimization over all lwIP modules) remains to be
done.
