Follow-up Comment #11, patch #7409 (project lwip):

ip6_frag is inspired by ip_frag, so some of the code is similar. The queueing
and recombining of packets is quite similar. However, there are differences in
processing since in v6 the fragment information is contained in an option.
Some IPv6 options are present in every fragment (called the unfragmentable
part) and other options+payload are fragmented. So the header processing and
fragment merging is a bit different.

Perhaps there could be some generic functions for the fragment queueing and
merging code, but I'm not sure how much would be saved.
