I think what Jonathan meant is if you provide a function 'netif_set_hostname'
you _can_ set one hostname per netif, even if you don't use it (in fact, most
user won't have more than one netif per device). I'd rather implement a
function 'lwip_set_hostname' that iterates over all netifs.
