Follow-up Comment #27, task #6861 (project lwip):
I didn't get round to replying to Thomas either. First, thanks for your
further efforts on this Thomas.
If it reduces the effort to get a first pass at this in, perhaps just keep
the double linked list, and add a FIXME comment, that there's scope for
improvement with a singly linked list.
I agree with Simon, that combining chain and validate wouldn't shrink code
*much*, but it would a bit, and indeed be more efficient.
Everything else you say in comment #25 is fine as far as I'm concerned,
