Follow-up Comment #2, task #7136 (project lwip):

Seems like a good idead to me. However there needs to be something in stats.c
as well to bring that in line.

Since it should be no semantic change, I would have thought this would be ok
before 1.3, but I don't know what the criteria are since there's an apparent
informal feature freeze.
