Almost immediately after running lilypond.exe, I get "lilypond.exe has stopped working."
Click the Start Menu and type "view reliability history" to open the Reliability Monitor. (You can also open the Control Panel and go to this path: Control Panel > System and Security > Security and Maintenance > Reliability Monitor.)
You should see critical events for LilyPond. Use the selector at the top to choose an earlier day if necessary. Right-click one of the events and select "View Technical Details".
You should see information similar to the following: ==== Description Faulting Application Path: C:\Tools\lilypond-2.23.5\bin\lilypond.exe Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: lilypond.exe Application Version: 2.23.5.1 Application Timestamp: 00000000 Fault Module Name: lilypond.exe Fault Module Version: 2.23.5.1 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000000000036e97e OS Version: 10.0.19042.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: a93e Additional Information 2: a93e890854283991a8a057c781792582 Additional Information 3: ed97 Additional Information 4: ed970adb21d02b5e6538407c27cf5ea2 Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 6e5e21429863fa08eb12f6c87bc92f41 (1950892929535520577) ====Verify the exception code is c0000005 and check whether offset is also 0036e97e. If these match, you and I are encountering the same access violation.
